Saskatchewan’s five-game win streak over Hamilton meets a reeling Ticats squad, while Edmonton tries to hold serve at home against a hot Toronto team.

This Week’s CFL Schedule

Toronto Argonauts at Edmonton Elks

WhenSaturday, August 15 at 3:00 PM ET Edmonton has won four straight against Toronto and sits at 6-3, but this Elks team is bleeding points lately — 36.7 per game over its last three, including a 30-48 blowout loss to Montreal last week. Toronto’s riding the opposite wave, winners of two straight, and their pass rush has been nasty with eight sacks over the last two games. Chad Kelly is 2-0 in his career against Edmonton and needs just 330 yards to slide past Tobin Rote into sixth on the Argos’ all-time passing list.

Players to Watch:

Chad Kelly (Toronto Argonauts, QB) — Has topped 300 yards in six of eight starts and owns a perfect mark against this Edmonton defense. Injury Watch:

Makai Polk (Toronto Argonauts, WR) — Out, moved to six-game injury, robbing Kelly of a receiver who was 49 yards from 2,000 career. Pick: Edmonton Elks 34-31. The home streak against Toronto is real, but this smells like another shootout given the O/U sits at a lofty 62 and both defenses have been leaky.

Saskatchewan Roughriders at Hamilton Tiger-Cats

WhenSaturday, August 15 at 7:00 PM ET Saskatchewan rolled into Hamilton back in Week 6 and left with a 38-7 beatdown, part of a five-game win streak over the Ticats that shows no signs of stopping. Hamilton’s lost three straight and has been outscored by 84 points in fourth quarters this season — that’s a defense that flat out runs out of gas. Trevor Harris is 12-5 for his career against this opponent, though Hamilton did hold him to a season-low 211 yards and two picks in that Week 6 meeting.

Players to Watch:

Tommy Stevens (Saskatchewan Roughriders, RB) — Just became the third player since 1995 with back-to-back three-TD games and is on pace for 25 rushing touchdowns, which would break Milt Stegall’s all-time record. Injury Watch:

Quali Conley (Saskatchewan Roughriders, RB) — Questionable, hamstring, transferred to single-game injury this week. Pick: Saskatchewan Roughriders 35-17. The Riders are 5-2-1 against the spread and have owned this series; Hamilton’s fourth-quarter collapses make covering a seven-point spread a tall order.

CFL Standings

TeamWLPFPA

Montreal Alouettes81321247 Quick Hits

Saskatchewan added RB Star’Corius Thomas off the practice roster while shifting Quali Conley to single-game injury — worth monitoring for backfield touches this weekend.
Edmonton’s secondary is banged up with Kenny Logan out and Royce Metchie doubtful, a scary combo against a Toronto passing attack that just torched Calgary for 33 points.

With Makai Polk sidelined for six games, expect Damonte Coxie to keep seeing extra targets after his season-high 161-yard outing last week.

Hamilton added DL Aamarii Notice off the practice roster as the Ticats try to patch a defense that’s been gassed late in games all season.
