Police in the United States say a man is safe after he was allegedly abducted in Winnipeg and driven hundreds of kilometres across the international border and several state lines.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On Saturday morning, officials in North Dakota received a report that a 31-year-old Manitoba man had abducted a 37-year-old man in Winnipeg, North Dakota State Patrol said in a statement<\/a> on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The suspect’s vehicle was identified using cameras across multiple locations. Police found it in Alexandria, Minn. \u2014 about 460 kilometres southeast of Winnipeg \u2014 by using cellphone locations, messages to family and friends and licence plate reader technology, the release said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old victim was able to break free in Alexandria, running into a nearby store before the suspect was arrested by local police.\u00a0<\/p>\n
