A Somali man is in custody after a support staff worker was stabbed at a Surrey hotel<\/a> used to house asylum seekers, officials say.<\/p>\n

Armed officers from Surrey Police<\/a> responded to the Stanwell hotel in Staines at 6.30pm on Saturday for a report of a stabbing<\/a>, the force said.<\/p>\n

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital with \u201clife-threatening injuries\u201d and a Somali man, in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in police custody, according to police.<\/p>\n

Conservative MP Lincoln Jopp said Sunday that the victim of the stabbing was a support staff worker.<\/p>\n

\"ArmedArmed officers were called to the Stanwell hotel, in Staines, at 6.30pm on Saturday to a report of a stabbing (PA)<\/p>\n

In a video posted to Facebook, Mr Jopp said he received a phone call on Saturday from the chief constable of Surrey Police informing him of the stabbing.<\/p>\n

Mr Jopp, MP for Spelthorne, said \u201cone of the support staff who work here was stabbed\u201d, and that \u201cone of the people who live here was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder\u201d.<\/p>\n

Police previously said they were not looking for anyone else in relation to the incident, and asked anyone with information to get in touch.<\/p>\n
