While speaking on the \u201cBlack Tech Green Money\u201d podcast, Westbrook traced her mission in wellness<\/a> back to her sports background\u00a0and her family\u2019s<\/a> involvement in athletics. According to<\/a> People Magazine, she played basketball at the University of California, Los Angeles.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s always been a part of my mission\u2026just coming from a family of sports and having a sports background myself, and understanding the physicality and understanding how we train our bodies to perform and how we alter our diets to create the best performance physically,\u201d Westbrook said on the podcast.<\/p>\n \u201cBut we\u2019re not putting that same amount of attention and energy and intention into training our minds and understanding how we feel and fostering emotional wellness. When really, if we\u2019re going to be living and thriving, then we need to be physically well, but we also need to be mentally well\u2026That\u2019s something that we\u2019re always striving to teach and that\u2019s something that I\u2019m always striving to share,\u201d she continued.<\/p>\n Westbrook\u2019s Wellness App, Nebbi<\/p>\n Westbrook is scaling her presence in the wellness sector \u2014 alongside Crimson Education Co-Founder Sharndre Kushor \u2014 with the launch of Nebbi. This therapist-designed emotional wellness app is anchored in science<\/a> and cognitive behavioral therapy, according to a press release shared with AFROTECH\u2122. Westbrook does not intend for the app to become a user\u2019s crutch or lifeline. It will not replace the work of an actual therapist; instead, it will provide the foundation for feeling better in real-time and encourage 60 seconds of daily intentional action.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat we wanted to do is create long-term behavioral change and long-term mental wellness: make long-term mental wellness achievable and attainable. And in order to achieve that, there has to be understanding.
