Happy Tuesday. It looks like that Lakers sale we told you about last week isn’t shaping up to be a slam dunk. CNBC’s Alex Sherman<\/a> reported yesterday that team governor Jeanie Buss is opposing the potential sale<\/a> of her family’s stake in the Lakers.<\/p>\n

S&P 500 futures<\/a> are lower before the bell following a negative day<\/a> on Wall Street.<\/p>\n

Here are five key things investors need to know to start the trading day:<\/p>\n

1. 30-year itch<\/p>\n

The 30-year U.S. Treasury<\/a> yield surged to its highest level in 19 years <\/a>yesterday. The long-dated yield’s ascent can signal that bond investors are concerned about continued inflationary pressures and the growing U.S. budget deficit.<\/p>\n

Here’s what else we’re following:<\/p>\n

The closely watched 10-year<\/a> and 2-year<\/a> Treasury yields followed their 30-year counterpart higher in yesterday’s session.Wall Street’s so-called fear gauge \u2014 known as the VIX \u2014 is trading around year-to-date lows<\/a>, underscoring the recent bout of tranquility for stocks despite continued geopolitical turmoil.Brent<\/a> oil prices jumped above $90 per barrel<\/a> yesterday after the U.S. and Iran wrote off the possibility of extending their memorandum of understanding, which expired on Monday.President Donald Trump said he is “not in a hurry” to make a deal with Tehran, also saying on Monday that the U.S. would bomb Oman<\/a> if the country “gets in the way.”Rising crude prices dragged on the three major stock indexes in yesterday’s session.Follow live market updates here.<\/a>2. Shares of Home Depot<\/a> are 2% higher this morning after the home improvement retailer beat analysts’ top- and bottom-line expectations<\/a> for the second quarter.<\/p>\n

The company also reaffirmed its guidance for the 2026 fiscal year as it operates in what CFO Richard McPhail called “‘frozen housing market’ conditions.” McPhail said that tariff refunds will help Home Depot “maintain value” as the returned cash partially counteracts other costs pressures.<\/p>\n

Home Depot kicks off a big week for retailer reports in an otherwise quiet period for corporate earnings. Lowe’s<\/a> and Target<\/a> report tomorrow, followed by Walmart<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

3. Day rate<\/p>\n

Paramount Skydance<\/a> wants state attorneys general to foot the bill<\/a> for the delay of its deal with Warner Bros. Discovery<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The media giant on Monday asked a judge to force the states challenging its merger to cover the fees and costs tied to the deal’s delay \u2014 a number Paramount put at $1.88 billion. There are a dozen state AGs involved in the antitrust lawsuit, which is set to head to trial in March.<\/p>\n

About one in four prediction market traders believe the deal won’t happen<\/a> by July 2027, an increase from before the AGs filed their suit.<\/p>\n

Nvidia<\/a> is contributing as much as $105 billion<\/a> for OpenAI’s new Ohio data center. The facility, located in Pike County, will be built and managed by SB Energy. Nvidia will provide the compute, and capacity is expect to begin coming online in 2028.<\/p>\n

As CNBC’s Samantha Subin<\/a> writes, the agreement marks the chipmaker’s latest financing deal tied to the artificial intelligence buildout. The billion-dollar deals have fueled concerns about the circular nature of AI financing.<\/p>\n

Speaking to CNBC’s “Squawk Box” earlier on Monday, OpenAI President Greg Brockman also addressed the company’s recent wave of executive turnover<\/a>. Brockman said the departures \u2014 which include revenue chief Denise Dresser, longtime executive Brad Lightcap and product and business chief Fidji Simo \u2014 aren’t unusual and are only attracting scrutiny because OpenAI is “so much in the spotlight.”<\/p>\n

As the new chairman of Disney<\/a>‘s Experiences division, Thomas Mazloum’s strategy is a balancing act: win the attention of less-frequent park visitors while keeping Disney’s most loyal attendees pleased.<\/p>\n

Mazloum, who became Disney’s parks boss earlier this year when Josh D’Amaro rose to CEO, outlined his plan<\/a> at the company’s D23 Expo last weekend. Mazloum said Disney will focus on large-scale expansions to attract new guests, while rolling out more immediate, smaller-scale updates for annual passholders.<\/p>\n

Disney is already reaping the rewards of this plan, Mazloum said, pointing to the company’s recent third-quarter results. The experiences division saw revenue hit a record of nearly $10 billion in the period, a 10% jump from a year prior.<\/p>\n

The Daily Dividend<\/p>\n

Texas’ finance industry is booming, thanks in part to the AI data center buildout. As CNBC’s Deena Zaidi<\/a> reports, Wells Fargo sees one regional bank<\/a> in particular set to benefit from the growth of “Y’all Street.” <\/p>\n
