{"id":862664,"date":"2026-08-18T15:36:17","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T15:36:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/862664\/"},"modified":"2026-08-18T15:36:17","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T15:36:17","slug":"pair-of-banks-abandoning-brandons-downtown-winnipeg-free-press","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/862664\/","title":{"rendered":"Pair of banks abandoning Brandon\u2019s downtown \u2013 Winnipeg Free Press"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BRANDON \u2014 Two of Canada\u2019s major banks are set to relocate from their longstanding downtown Brandon locations in October.<\/p>\n<p>BMO will close its branch on Rosser Avenue and move to a new location on Park Avenue while Royal Bank of Canada\u2019s Rosser branch will be consolidated with the existing RBC branch on 18th Street.<\/p>\n<p>Neither bank owns its downtown property or could say what will happen to the buildings after they vacate.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/4484852_web1_260817NewBMO01TS.JPG\" data-pswp- data-pswp-width=\"2048\" data-pswp-height=\"1365\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/4484852_web1_260817NewBMO01TS.JPG\" alt=\"Tim Smith\/The Brandon Sun&#10;                                BMO is moving out of downtown Brandon to a new branch on Park Avenue.\"\/><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tim Smith\/The Brandon Sun<\/p>\n<p>BMO is moving out of downtown Brandon to a new branch on Park Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>BMO spokesperson Jeff Roman described the bank\u2019s move to Park Avenue as an investment in the Brandon community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re excited to share our latest investment in the community with the upcoming opening of our new, modernized branch,\u201d Roman said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith an expanded footprint and refreshed presence in Brandon, the new BMO branch reflects our commitment to being where our clients are and to helping them make real financial progress,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The BMO move will come 10 days after RBC transitions its downtown branch clients and employees to its 18th Street and Van Horne location.<\/p>\n<p>RBC regional vice-president Tracey Schofield said there will be no job losses as a result of the consolidation from one to two branches in the city.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have completed significant renovations at our 18th &amp; Van Horne location to support this change and encourage clients to visit us to experience this investment,\u201d Schofield said in an email.<\/p>\n<p>The changes come as both banks adjust their physical branch networks to reflect changing consumer banking habits.<\/p>\n<p>Schofield said RBC has increasingly been providing customers with a combination of digital and mobile banking, traditional branch services and mobile expert advisers.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/4484852_web1_260423BMO02TS.jpg\" data-pswp- data-pswp-width=\"2048\" data-pswp-height=\"1365\"><br \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/4484852_web1_260423BMO02TS.jpg\" alt=\"The BMO branch on Rosser Avenue in downtown Brandon on Thursday.
