When it’s in Gorging Form, Cramorant is shown trying to eat Pikachu… Not sure if it’s a good idea for it to eat an Electric-type, but who am I to judge? Read on if you want to add this Pokémon to your Dex, because I’m here to show you how to get Cramorant in Pokémon Go.

On this page:

To see this content please enable targeting cookies.

Manage cookie settings

How to get Cramorant in Pokémon Go

There are three different ways to catch Cramorant:

Eggs – 5km (Exclusive to Water Festival event)
Go Battle League – Rank 16 or higher
Go Pass – Free Track: Rank 30 | Deluxe Track: Rank 19, Rank 30

💡Lottie’s Pro Tip

If you want to earn Cramorant via Go Pass, then make sure you’re earning the maximum number of points per day. Always keep an eye on the daily limit!

Exactly which method is best for catching Cramorant depends on how much time you’ve spent progressing through the Go Battle League this season. If you’re already Rank 16 or higher, then obtaining it via the Go Battle League rewards is the best way to go. First ensure you’ve caught the guaranteed Gabite from Rank 1 and then defeat three trainers in one set to have a chance of encountering Cramorant. (You may need to earn the Pokémon encounter reward multiple times for it to appear.) Even if you’re Rank 14 or 15, you might find this method easier than the other two.

If you’re like me, however, and haven’t spent any time in the Go Battle League at all this season. (I’ve been more into raiding recently.) Then hatching Cramorant via 5km eggs is the way to go. Of course, you’ll have to deal with the fact that there are other Pokémon in the egg pool, but there’s a chance you can catch it. Hatching these eggs will also help you progress through the Ultra Unlock: Water Festival Go Pass where, if you get far enough, you’ll earn a Cramorant encounter. Just remember that Cramorant will only be appearing in 5km eggs collected during the Water Festival event itself.

No matter which method you choose, I highly recommend catching at least one Cramorant before the Ultra Unlock: Water Festival ends as, at the time of writing, we don’t know what Cramorant’s availability will be like. Always best to catch a new Pokémon during its debut event!

The Ultra Unlock: Water Festival event is currently running. With it comes three new Pokémon – Cramorant, Arrokuda and Barraskewda. Want to know what’s happening for the rest of the month? Then take a look at the August schedule. Don’t forget to keep an eye out for both the rarest Pokémon and the best Pokémon in your travels.

Cramorant Gulping and Gorging Form explained

Cramorant has two forms – Gulping Form and Gorging Form – which it can switch between in battle if it knows and uses either the Surf or Dive Charged Attack. The exact form Cramorant takes depends on how much HP it has at the point when either Surf or Dive are used.

Let’s take a look at the requirements and boosts for both forms:

Gorging Form – If Cramorant uses Surf / Dive when its HP is low, it will transform into the Gorging Form. If it is hit by a Charged Attack while in this form, the opponent’s attack will drop.
Gulping Form – If Cramorant uses Surf / Dive when its HP is high, it will transform into the Gulping Form. If it is hit by a Charged Attack when in this form, the opponent’s defense will drop.

There’s also a cosmetic difference between these two forms! In Gorging Form, Cramorant will be trying to eat a Pikachu, while, in Gulping Form, it will be trying to eat an Arrokuda.

It’s worth noting that Cramorant can help other Charged Attacks aside from these two, such as Hydro Pump, so you may have to use a Charged TM to ensure Cramorant has the ability to change forms.

Is Cramorant shiny in Pokémon Go?

No, shiny Cramorant is not in Pokémon Go at the time of writing. Sadly Cramorant is not one of the lucky Pokémon who got their shiny form upon release, so you’ll have to wait a little longer for it to arrive.

When it arrives, you’ll find that shiny Cramorant is fine. I guess. The change from blue to orange is certainly striking, so guess it’s alright. At least it’s not green…

Best of luck catching Cramorant in Pokémon Go!

Cramorant debuted in Pokémon Go during August 2026’s Ultra Unlock: Water Festival event alongside Arrokuda and Barraskewda.
