It\u2019s been the summer of sharks.<\/p>\n

First it was Bella (a great white shark weighing more than 700 pounds<\/a>) who was spotted near Quebec shores.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Then three sharks were tracked roaming the Gulf of St. Lawrence at the same time\u2014two of them weighing over 700 pounds. Then three sharks became six.<\/p>\n

Now, a white shark measuring almost 9 feet is on the move toward the St. Lawrence River as a number of sharks circle the Gulf.<\/p>\n

How far up the St Lawrence do sharks go?<\/p>\n

Located on the shores of the St. Lawrence River, Baie-Comeau is a city in the C\u00f4te-Nord region of the province of Quebec.<\/p>\n

Brookes, a female white shark weighing 456 pounds, pinged August 18, 2026, at 8:03 a.m. near Baie-Comeau.<\/p>\n

The newly tagged white shark measures 8 feet and 10 inches when she was tagged in September, 2025.<\/p>\n

At the beginning of August, the Gulf of St. Lawrence was home to six tracked sharks, including a 13-foot white shark (carcharodon carcharias) weighing nearly 1,400 pounds.\u00a0<\/p>\n
