It came to Canada in 2006, and started in Antigonish in March of 2023, with the first books going out in April. The ABC for Kids Society was started by the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Antigonish in order to help deliver the program. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-197298\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/kids-3400291_1280-600x399.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Kathleen Robertson, chair of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library Antigonish, said 948 children already enrolled in the program since April of 2023, with around 650 children still active. The \u00a0program issued over 16,800 books so far. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.989xfm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/August-21-Robertson-books-clip-.wav\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/www.989xfm.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/August-21-Robertson-books-clip-.wav<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Robertson thanked the nurses at the St. Martha`s Regional Hospital children`s ward for putting flyers for the program into packages given to new moms.
