During a recent appearance on the “Rodeo Time<\/a>” podcast,” the 56-year-old writer and director called Los Angeles an “awful place” where there is nothing to do except to work out.<\/p>\n “I’m the biggest content creator in Hollywood, and I haven’t been to that sorry son of a b—- in seven years,” he said.<\/p>\n The prolific showrunner is known for creating many of TV’s most popular programming, including “Yellowstone,” “Landman,” “Lioness,” “Tulsa King” and many others and has managed to “do it from Granbury, Texas.”<\/p>\n Sheridan called Los Angeles an “awful place” in a recent interview. Many of his shows have used both the ranch and the studio when filming.<\/p>\n After getting his start as an actor in Los Angeles, Sheridan witnessed unsavory behavior from directors<\/a> on sets he worked on, which greatly influenced how he treats his talent as a director.<\/p>\n “I watch these directors, most of them yell at everybody, yell at their crew, yell at people. … It’s a leadership by frustration,” he explained. “It’s a terrible way to lead, and it creates an atmosphere that nobody wants to be a part of.”<\/p>\n He recalled coming to the understanding that, without the camera operators, costume designers, production designers and everyone else on set, he can’t make anything.<\/p>\n “So, unless I’m willing to do it, I better be real nice when I ask someone to do it, and I better be real appreciative when they do,” Sheridan said.\u00a0<\/p>\n Sheridan’s experience with directors while on set as an actor influences how he behaves. I love being in Texas. I love saying your words.<\/p>\n “I think he’s truly a standalone talent,” he said. “There’s nobody who’s doing or has ever done what he’s doing. It’s incredible what he does. And he’s just one of the smartest dudes you’ll ever meet. He’s fricking brilliant, man. Brilliant. And just one of the greatest storytellers.”<\/p>\n Zoe Salda\u00f1a also praised the director for his ability to write female characters who are “complex” and “wholesome,” noting, “If there\u2019s one thing that I love the most, it\u2019s men that really see women and know how to write women.<\/p>\n LIKE WHAT YOU’RE READING?
