{"id":864092,"date":"2026-08-19T19:26:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T19:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/864092\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T19:26:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T19:26:09","slug":"scarborough-shooting-gun-fired-at-vehicle-theft-suspects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/864092\/","title":{"rendered":"Scarborough shooting: Gun fired at vehicle theft suspects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A Scarborough resident has been charged after allegedly firing a gun as multiple suspects attempted to steal a vehicle from the driveway of their home early Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The incident happened in the Cliffcrest neighbourhood, near Kingston and McCowan roads.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Toronto police said they were called to the area at 2:41 a.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Investigators say they learned that an unknown number of suspects were attempting to steal a vehicle from the driveway of a home when a firearm was discharged by one of its residents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A nearby dwelling sustained damage from the gunfire, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">No injuries have been reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The suspects, meanwhile, fled the scene prior to police arrival.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">An unnamed resident of the home has been charged.
