One person is dead after a two-engine plane made an emergency landing on a busy Prince George roadway Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The incident happened just before 2:30 p.m. on Foothills Boulevard, about 1.5 kilometres north of North Nechako Road.<\/p>\n
Two vehicles were struck by the aircraft, while other drivers attempted to dodge the incoming plane.<\/p>\n
An occupant of one of the vehicles died at the scene.<\/p>\n
Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, media relations officer with the Prince George RCMP, stated, \u201cAny potential injuries to the other vehicle occupants as well as those on board the plane are currently unknown.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cInvestigators would like to remind the public that this is an active investigation and that they need to stay away from the area. It removes valuable police resources from this investigation as well as the regular calls for service if RCMP must station police officers at every access point to Foothills Boulevard to keep the curious onlookers away, of which there have already been too many. Please allow room for our first responders to work safely,\u201d said Cpl. Cooper<\/p>\n
Foothills Boulevard is closed in both directions and will remain that way overnight and into Friday, explained Cpl. Cooper. Drivers are asked to use alternate routes in the meantime.<\/p>\n
The Transportation Safety Board has been called in to assume conduct of this investigation<\/p>\n
The aircraft appears to be a 1980s Beechcraft King Air 200 and is registered to Sekani Air Ltd.<\/p>\n
A video posted to social media, taken from inside the plane, before the crash, showed approximately eight people on board.<\/p>\n

A serious motor vehicle incident involving a plane shut down a Prince George street on Thursday afternoon.<\/p>\n
The abrupt landing of a two-engine aircraft caused the plane to collide with at least two vehicles on Foothills Boulevard at Highland Drive during a busy commute. A portion of the aircraft\u2019s wing smashed through the windshield of a truck, while the turbofan front fan, along with debris, was seen scattered across the road.<\/p>\n
Emergency crews were called to the scene at about 2:30 p.m. Prince George Fire Rescue confirmed the incident and its seriousness in a social media post urging residents to avoid areas as the road will be closed for several hours.<\/p>\n
The incident forced vehicles off the roadway, with one crashing into a ditch.<\/p>\n
There is currently no information regarding injuries of those involved in this incident, or how many occupants were onboard the aircraft at the time.<\/p>\n
On social media, Terry Ostashek commented that he lives near Foothills Boulevard and heard a plane flying overhead just before the aircraft landed on the roadway.<\/p>\n
