The NFL<\/a> MVP conversation usually starts with the same names: Patrick Mahomes. Josh Allen. Lamar Jackson. Drake Maye.<\/p>\n

It’s time to add in Bo Nix. Nix threw for 3,931 yards and 25 touchdowns last season while adding another 356 yards and five scores on the ground. More importantly, Denver went 14-3, earned the AFC’s No. 1 seed, and reached the AFC Championship Game after Nix suffered a broken ankle in the Divisional Round.<\/p>\n

Now he gets Jaylen Waddle, a healthy ankle, and another year with Sean Payton. And the early returns are interesting.<\/p>\n

Denver Post reporter Luca Evans offered this observation<\/a> after watching Nix early in camp: “Bo Nix looks considerably better + more poised + accurate” than at the same point last year.<\/p>\n

That is the sentence that has my attention.<\/p>\n

This isn’t Nix trying to prove he belongs anymore. He already proved he can win. The next jump has to come in efficiency, accuracy, and command \u2013 exactly the areas Evans is already noticing.<\/p>\n

Then Denver added Waddle, giving Nix an explosive weapon he openly said brings something the offense had been missing. Davis Webb taking over play-calling also gives Nix an offensive coordinator who spent the previous three seasons working directly with him as quarterbacks coach.<\/p>\n

An MVP prediction requires team success, too. Denver already checked that box last year. If Nix turns 25 passing touchdowns into 30-plus, pushes beyond 4,000 yards and Denver again wins 12 or 13 games, the conversation changes quickly.<\/p>\n

Nix himself said this offseason that winning an MVP is one of his goals. I’m starting to think that sounds less crazy than it did in June.<\/p>\n
