Since the Yankees and Mets were both better with Juan Soto in The Bronx, I asked Yankees officials if they\u2019d consider a do-over and take Soto back in trade. The answer: No. (The Mets probably wouldn\u2019t trade him, anyway.)<\/p>\n

The Yankees may not be entirely over the rejection. But the answer I got was: Nobody is taking that contract.<\/p>\n

When I pointed out the Yankees offered only $5M less<\/a> \u2014 $760M to $765M \u2014 and the Mets already paid $126M of it, including the $75M signing bonus, the answer was still no.<\/p>\n

Soto and Aaron Judge had a special relationship.
