{"id":867738,"date":"2026-08-22T19:44:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T19:44:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/867738\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T19:44:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T19:44:11","slug":"usain-bolts-100m-record-broken-at-world-humanoid-robot-games-athletics-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/867738\/","title":{"rendered":"Usain Bolt\u2019s 100m record broken at World Humanoid Robot Games | Athletics News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__subhead\">Chinese robot reaches peak \u200bspeed of 14.5 metres per second to beat Bolt\u2019s 100m record in Beijing, says state media.<\/p>\n<p>Published On 22 Aug 202622 Aug 2026<\/p>\n<p>A humanoid \u2060robot developed \u2060by Chinese smartphone maker Honor ran 100 metres (328ft) in 9.32 seconds, China\u2019s state broadcaster has reported, beating the human world record held by Jamaican sprinting great Usain Bolt.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2060robot, dubbed Lightning, reached a peak speed of 14.5 metres (47.6ft) per second during a preparatory test event for the second World Humanoid Robot Games, \u200cwhich opened in Beijing on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Recommended Stories list of 4 itemsend of list<\/p>\n<p>The performance surpassed the 9.58-second men\u2019s 100-metre world record set by Bolt at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>China has been promoting humanoid robots as a strategic emerging industry, \u2060with policymakers and companies betting \u2060that advances in AI and hardware will accelerate their deployment in manufacturing, logistics and consumer applications.<\/p>\n<p>Lightning also won the 21km (13-mile) \u2060Beijing half marathon in April in 50 minutes and 26 seconds, \u2060faster than the elite men\u2019s \u2060human world-record pace.<\/p>\n<p>The robot stood 169cm (5.5ft) tall and had 95cm (3.1ft) legs at the half marathon.
