A yellow warning for severe thunderstorms has ended, but a special weather statement remains in effect for Toronto and the rest of the GTA.<\/p>\n
Environment Canada issued the warning early Saturday evening as meteorologists tracked a storm moving east at 50 km\/h. The federal agency said radar and weather station data suggested 25 to 40 millimetres of rain had fallen as the storm passed through.<\/p>\n
The yellow warning ended just after 7:15 p.m.<\/p>\n
Rain has been falling throughout much of the day in the region. The weather has led to a delay at Rogers Stadium, where popular K-pop group BTS is set to perform in front of a sold-out crowd.<\/p>\n
In a post on Instagram<\/a>, the venue urged fans who are in the stands to proceed to the Fan Plaza.<\/p>\n The venue later posted an update, saying the concert would go as planned and fans could return to their seats.<\/p>\n Fans filed into the stadium carrying umbrellas and wearing plastic ponchos.<\/p>\n According to the special weather statement, the GTA could see rainfall rates of up to 40 millimetres in an hour between Saturday and Sunday morning.<\/p>\n \u201cGiven the potential for slow-moving showers and thunderstorms and for some areas to receive multiple rounds of precipitation, local amounts exceeding 50 millimetres are possible,\u201d the federal agency said in its advisory.<\/a><\/p>\n It noted that these areas could see rainfall rates of up to 40 millimetres in an hour.<\/p>\n Environment Canada said rainfall amounts will vary across the region.<\/p>\n \u201cThere remains considerable uncertainty as to exactly which areas will receive the highest rainfall amounts,\u201d the federal agency said.<\/p>\n \u201cAdditional showers are expected through Sunday, especially to the east of Lake Huron and Georgian Bay and over northeastern Ontario.\u201d<\/p>\n Rainy conditions are expected to persist on Sunday with a daytime high of 21 C in Toronto.<\/p>\n Tens of thousands are also expected to attend BTS\u2019s concerts at Rogers Stadium tonight and on Sunday as part of their \u201cARIRANG\u201d tour. It is the group\u2019s only Canadian stop.<\/p>\n This weekend is considered one of the busiest this summer, as multiple events, festivals, and concerts are being held, including the Canadian National Exhibition.<\/p>\n
