The Dutch royal family had a front-row seats for one of the most anticipated races on the Formula 1 calendar on Sunday. King Willem-Alexander and Queen M\u00e1xima<\/a> attended the Dutch Grand Prix at Circuit Zandvoort near Amsterdam, joined this year by their middle daughter, Princess Alexia.<\/p>\n

Both mother and daughter dressed casual chic for the event, with Princess Alexia in a strapless jumpsuit from Alice & Olivia and a gold S\u00e9zane belt<\/a>, and Queen M\u00e1xima in a white collared shirt with a cream floral Natan skirt and Cartier sunglasses<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The race has been a regular fixture on the royal calendar since it returned to the F1 schedule in 2021. King Willem-Alexander also took on a special role at the conclusion of the race by presenting the winner\u2019s trophy.<\/p>\n

Princess Alexia\u2019s last public appearance with the royal family was in April for the annual King\u2019s Day celebrations, a national holiday in the Netherlands celebrating King Willem-Alexander\u2019s birthday with massive street parties all over the country. She was also with her parents and siblings in the family\u2019s annual summer portrait<\/a> taken in the gardens at Clingendael Park in The Hague.<\/p>\n

Princess Alexia, 21, will return to the United Kingdom to continue her studies in civil engineering at University College London, where she has been enrolled since 2024. Like several other royals, including Spanish princesses Leonor<\/a> and Sof\u00eda<\/a>, Alexia also attended UWC Atlantic in Wales for high school. Her time in the UK has meant she is less frequently available for royal engagements with her academic commitments taking priority during term time.<\/p>\n

Crown Princess Catharina-Amalia, 22, the eldest of the three and first in line to the throne, will continue her military training and studies in Dutch law at the University of Amsterdam. The youngest, Princess Ariane, 19, announced earlier this year that she will begin studying aerospace engineering at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands this September.<\/p>\n
