{"id":870594,"date":"2026-08-25T06:48:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T06:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/870594\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T06:48:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T06:48:16","slug":"electronic-devices-seized-in-child-exploitation-raid-north-of-brampton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/870594\/","title":{"rendered":"Electronic devices seized in child exploitation raid north of Brampton"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One man has been charged and police seized multiple electronic devices in a raid linked to a child sexual exploitation investigation north of Brampton.<\/p>\n<p>The OPP says officers with the Child Sexual Exploitation Unit (CSEU) raided a home north of Brampton in the Inglewood area of Caledon on Aug. 12.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators say \u201cseveral\u201d devices were seized from the home, and assistance was provided by offices from the Caledon OPP detachment and digital forensics unit.<\/p>\n<p>Police say James Gilbert, 53, of Inglewood, has been arrested and charged with two counts of possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.<\/p>\n<p>The accused has been released from custody following a bail hearing and is scheduled to make a court appearance in Orangeville on Sept. 10.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe OPP will continue to identify and pursue individuals who use technology to exploit children,\u201d police said in a release, adding a reminder for parents to take a proactive approach to help protect children from online sexual exploitation.<\/p>\n<p>The Canadian Centre for Child Protection says teaching kids about internet safety is important, and parents should stay up-to-date with new technology to help keep children safe online.<\/p>\n<p>You can find resources and information about the potential risks children face and strategies to keep kids safe while online. by visiting <a href=\"https:\/\/protectchildren.ca\/en\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">www.protectchildren.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with information about this incident can contact the OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122.
