Paul Gallen<\/a> has made an extraordinary claim about No Limit Boxing and Nelson Asofa-Solomona<\/a>, while denying reports he is in the final stages of negotiations for a fight against the former Melbourne Storm<\/a> giant.<\/p>\n

Fox Sports reported on Tuesday that Gallen was closing in on a deal which would see him fight Asofa-Solomona in October for $1 million.<\/p>\n

But when contacted by nine.com.au, Gallen said that was not true because No Limit was yet to offer him a lucrative enough pay day.<\/p>\n

The former Cronulla Sharks<\/a> and NSW Blues<\/a> captain then made the staggering claim that No Limit bosses wanted to bail out of their three-year deal with Asofa-Solomona \u2013 and was hopeful Gallen would make that happen by stepping up and finishing him.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll tell you why they want me to come back. They want me to come back and beat him because they know he\u2019s shit,\u201d Gallen, who on Sunday will be running the Sydney Marathon<\/a>, told nine.com.au.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll due respect to Nelson … No Limit have realised two things. Firstly, he can\u2019t fight, he\u2019s not a good boxer. He\u2019s dangerous. Don\u2019t get me wrong, he\u2019s very dangerous. He can punch. He\u2019s dangerous. And most footy players they put in front of him, he\u2019ll probably knock them out because he\u2019s dangerous and he can punch. I\u2019m not taking that away from him at all.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut as far as boxing<\/a> goes, he\u2019s absolutely no chance of going anywhere, and they [No Limit] know that. That\u2019s why they want me to come back and beat him and finish him.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn top of that, he doesn\u2019t sell. He\u2019s got zero selling power at all as far as their pay-per-view sales go. They haven\u2019t moved one single bit with him fighting. So they want me to come back and improve the pay-per-view sales and stop him fighting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asofa-Solomona quit the Storm after the 2025 NRL<\/a> season, with two years to run on his lucrative contract.<\/p>\n

\u2018Big Nasty\u2019, who tips the scales at 135 kilograms and is two metres tall, has since signed a three-year, nine-fight contract with No Limit.<\/p>\n

He has fought three of those fights and won all of them. He won all three by knockout, proving far too powerful for former NRL forwards Jeremy Latimore, Jarrod Wallace and George Burgess<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But according to Gallen, No Limit isn\u2019t sold.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey want me to come back and finish this whole shemozzle,\u201d he claimed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last guy he fought [Burgess]<\/a>, he\u2019s never had a fight in his life and was blowing up after 30 seconds. He was gone. Cooked. He fell and beat himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cNelson wants to be a professional boxer now and they\u2019re trying to bring a 45-year-old out of retirement to fight him. Like, where\u2019s he going?<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you\u2019re\u00a0140kg and you land a punch, that\u2019s gonna hurt most people. He can hurt almost everyone.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut as far as his boxing ability goes, when he gets down to somebody and actually fights, he\u2019s gonna be in trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nine.com.au contacted No Limit for comment.<\/p>\n

Gallen is open to fighting Asofa-Solomona provided his asking price is met, and will back himself to beat the big Kiwi if they do meet in the ring.<\/p>\n

Gallen hasn\u2019t fought since defeating cross-code superstar and bitter rival Sonny Bill Williams<\/a> via a split-points decision<\/a> in July last year.<\/p>\n

The 2016 Sharks premiership captain had previously declared he was retired from professional boxing, before being enticed back into the ring by a mammoth No Limit pay day.<\/p>\n

But when asked about talk of a soon-to-be-finalised \u2018Big Nasty\u2019 fight deal, Gallen scoffed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wouldn\u2019t say [negotiations are in the] final stages,\u201d the \u2018G-Train\u2019 said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019ve made me an offer. I met them last week. I get on with Matt [Rose], and he put a contract in front of me, but I didn\u2019t even look at the contract. I said, \u2018Mate, what\u2019s the number?\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not something to be sneezed at, don\u2019t get me wrong. But I said, \u2018Mate, I\u2019m not even looking at it\u2019, and I walked away. He knows the figure I fight for. They wanna pay me, I\u2019ll fight. Pretty simple.\u201d<\/p>\n

Asked about reports No Limit had offered him a $1 million pay day, Gallen was unequivocal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not true,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll the figures about me boxing are rubbish.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Gallen is open to fighting Asofa-Solomona, he admitted his family, including his wife Anne, still hoped he would stay out of the ring.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat won\u2019t change,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy wife is pretty easygoing. It\u2019s just when I spoke to her last week after an offer was made, she was like, \u2018Ugh\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
