{"id":871051,"date":"2026-08-25T15:40:32","date_gmt":"2026-08-25T15:40:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/871051\/"},"modified":"2026-08-25T15:40:32","modified_gmt":"2026-08-25T15:40:32","slug":"latest-medicines-added-to-prescription-list-at-105000-annual-cost","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/871051\/","title":{"rendered":"Latest medicines added to prescription list at \u00a3105,000 annual cost"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A RANGE of medicines for conditions including menopause symptoms, severe acne and prostate cancer are to become available through Jersey\u2019s public prescription scheme from next month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Social Security Minister Elaine Millar has approved changes to the Prescribed List from 1 September following recommendations from the Pharmaceutical Benefit Advisory Committee.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This government-approved catalogue sets out which medicines and pharmaceutical products can be prescribed free of charge to Islanders through funding from the Health Insurance Fund.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a doctor prescribes a medicine that does not feature on the list, it is classed as a private prescription, meaning the patient must pay the full cost themselves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The list is updated regularly.
