A Beaconsfield resident already facing two counts of voyeurism at the Montreal courthouse is still under investigation and might be connected with as many as 300 victims, a prosecutor recently revealed in court.<\/p>\n
Alvin Narciso, 36, was charged this month and remains detained. On Friday, prosecutor Annabelle Sheppard made the comments during a very brief hearing before Quebec Court Judge Nadia B\u00e9rub\u00e9.<\/p>\n
Narciso is charged with \u201csurreptitiously making a visual recording (of a woman) who was in circumstances that give rise to a reasonable expectation of privacy.\u201d<\/p>\n
The victim\u2019s name is protected by a standard publication ban and the two charges apply to the same person. <\/p>\n
Narciso is charged with committing the same Criminal Code offence on May 27 and June 22. The charges involve Narciso\u2019s work as a massage therapist. <\/p>\n
In court on Friday, Sheppard said an investigation into Narciso had become bigger and that \u201cthere could be as many as between 200 and 300 victims.\u201d She made the comment while explaining to the judge that Narciso\u2019s bail hearing could be held immediately or pushed back to a later date because more evidence is expected.<\/p>\n
The judge agreed to push back a hearing to later this week. <\/p>\n
According to a decision made by the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, a tribunal in Ontario, Narciso worked as a massage therapist in that province, but he resigned on July 2, 2024.<\/p>\n
The board was reviewing a decision made by the Complaints and Reports Committee of the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario concerning a complaint made by a woman who alleged Narciso sexually abused her during a massage session.<\/p>\n
The woman was not satisified with the committee\u2019s decision to order that Narciso simply undergo more training, in part, \u201cto remediate the concerns regarding consent for assessment and treatment of sensitive areas, communications, and draping (of clients\u2019 bodies).\u201d<\/p>\n
The committee also based its decision to not go any further with the woman\u2019s complaint on Narciso\u2019s resignation and \u201cprovided that he would never reapply for membership, registration, licensure or similar status as a massage therapist with the College or any other massage therapy regulatory body in Canada.\u201d<\/p>\n
On Feb. 3, 2025, the board that reviewed the committee\u2019s decision confirmed it and ordered that Narciso undergo more training if he wanted to work as a massage therapist again.<\/p>\n
