{"id":871853,"date":"2026-08-26T07:30:45","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T07:30:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/871853\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T07:30:45","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T07:30:45","slug":"blue-jays-yimi-garcia-undergoes-thoracic-outlet-surgery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/871853\/","title":{"rendered":"Blue Jays&#8217; Yimi Garcia undergoes thoracic outlet surgery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/baseball\/mlb\/teams\/toronto-blue-jays\/\" class=\"sn-team-post-link\" target=\"_self\" data-team=\"toronto-blue-jays\" data-league=\"mlb\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> reliever recently underwent thoracic outlet surgery in Dallas, manager John Schneider told reporters Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Garc\u00eda was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome in early August \u2014 a condition that occurs when nerves between the collarbone and first rib get squeezed.<\/p>\n<p>The right-hander has yet to pitch in the big-leagues this season as he&#8217;s recovered from off-season right elbow surgery.<\/p>\n<p>Garc\u00eda has attempted to return to full health throughout this season, but he&#8217;s been pulled from multiple rehab assignments with new injuries.<\/p>\n<p>Over nine rehab appearances, he threw 7.2 innings, struck out eight and allowed eight earned runs.<\/p>\n<p>The 35-year-old is in the final year of a two-year, $15-million deal he inked with the Blue Jays before the 2025 season.
