In arresting a Mississauga man suspected of drug trafficking in Sudbury Aug. 23, Greater Sudbury Police seized cocaine with about $50,000 in street value and a loaded semi-automatic handgun.<\/p>\n
Police said the Drug Enforcement Unit arrested the man as he entered Sudbury. Investigators subsequently executed a search warrant at a downtown residence associated with the accused.<\/p>\n
A search of the accused after his arrest resulted in the seizure of:<\/p>\n
\u2022 500 grams of cocaine<\/p>\n
\u2022 One loaded Ruger semi-automatic handgun<\/p>\n
\u2022 Four cell phones<\/p>\n
\u2022 $3,000 in Canadian currency<\/p>\n
A search of the residence resulted in the seizure of:<\/p>\n
\u2022 $500 in Canadian currency<\/p>\n
\u2022 Digital scales<\/p>\n
\u2022 Packaging materials<\/p>\n
\u2022 Cutting agents<\/p>\n
The estimated street value of the seized cocaine is approximately $50,000.<\/p>\n
The 36-year-old man was charged with:<\/p>\n
\u2022 Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking<\/p>\n
\u2022 Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000<\/p>\n
\u2022 Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized<\/p>\n
\u2022 Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition<\/p>\n
The accused attended bail court on August 24 to answer to the charges.<\/p>\n
This investigation was conducted in collaboration with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team.<\/p>\n
