{"id":873551,"date":"2026-08-27T17:10:25","date_gmt":"2026-08-27T17:10:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/873551\/"},"modified":"2026-08-27T17:10:25","modified_gmt":"2026-08-27T17:10:25","slug":"suspects-pulled-cables-from-manholes-in-calgary-copper-wire-thefts-cps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/873551\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspects pulled cables from manholes in Calgary copper-wire thefts: CPS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Police have charged four people after two early\u2011morning copper\u2011wire thefts in northeast Calgary last week.<\/p>\n<p>Calgary police say the first call came in around 5 a.m. on Friday when a witness reported a red SUV on Edmonton Trail NE in Greenview Industrial Park with a tow strap running into a manhole. <\/p>\n<p>Police arrived to find three people beside the open manhole and took them into custody.<\/p>\n<p>Three days later, at about 5:50 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to another report of a suspicious vehicle parked beside a manhole on the same stretch of Edmonton Trail. <\/p>\n<p>Police found one suspect asleep in the vehicle and another inside the manhole. Roughly 25 feet of cut telecom cable was recovered along with tools and small quantities of suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl.<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">???? CHARGES LAID ????<\/p>\n<p>Calgary Police Service District 3 members have charged 4 people in connection with 2 telecommunications copper wire theft incidents that occurred last week in the city&#8217;s northeast community of Greenview Industrial Park.<\/p>\n<p>????
