He was charged with aggravated assault, robbery and failing to comply with a probation order. He remains in custody.<\/p>\n<p>Sumner was given 18 months of supervised probation last November, when he pleaded guilty to an assault with a weapon committed in June 2025, as well as mischief and two court order breaches, court records show. Sumner was also sentenced to 180 days in jail, less time served awaiting court proceedings, and barred from possessing weapons for 10 years.<\/p>\n<p>In the past, Sumner pleaded guilty to assaulting a peace officer and to a common assault.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s accused of breaching his probation order in June, July and in August.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tWinnipeg Free Press | Newsletter\n\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/headstart-thumbnail-sunrise-1.jpg\" alt=\"Sign up for Head Start\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Dollarama spokesperson Lyla Radmanovich said the national chain had been made aware of the incident and co-operated in the investigation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDollarama is aware of a serious incident that occurred at one of its stores in Winnipeg involving a security guard employed by a third-party provider,\u201d she said in an email Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are co-operating fully with the authorities in their investigation.
