Exactly three weeks after a Sikh trucker from B.C. says he was attacked at a Walmart in Edmonton during a work-related stop, police are looking to hear from witnesses.<\/p>\n

Talwinder Singh Atwal says he was physically assaulted by a man and woman at the Walmart on Tamarack Way in south Edmonton on Aug. 6.<\/p>\n

BACKGROUND: \u2018He pulled my beard\u2019: Physical altercation at Edmonton Walmart investigated by hate crimes unit<\/a><\/p>\n

He says it began with the suspects \u201csaying words against my religious clothes, my identity,\u201d he told CityNews\u2019 sister station Focus Punjabi on OMNI TV earlier this month.<\/p>\n

Atwal says the couple punched and pushed him and pulled his beard.<\/p>\n

A video circulating on social media shows the end of the altercation with Atwal on the ground and his turban partially taken off his head. CityNews has not been able to independently verify what happened leading up to the moments recorded in the video.<\/p>\n

Now police are saying they are aware the incident was witnessed and filmed by several shoppers who left before officers arrived. Investigators are asking those people to come forward.<\/p>\n

EPS confirmed to CityNews Thursday its hate crimes unit was still assisting with the investigation. <\/p>\n
