THE CANADIAN PRESS\/Adrian Wyld<\/p>\n<p>By The Canadian Press<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\tAug 27, 2026 | 10:42 AM\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>OTTAWA \u2014 Toronto Liberal MP Salma Zahid said Thursday her car was set on fire at her home and police are investigating it as a suspected arson. <\/p>\n<p>In a written statement Zahid said her car and another vehicle were set on fire overnight and both her son and neighbours called 911 after noticing the fire. <\/p>\n<p>In a post on social media, Prime Minister Mark Carney called the fire \u201ca cowardly act of violence and intimidation\u201d that has no place in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>A spokesperson from Zahid\u2019s office said the fire was noticed around 1:15 a.m. Thursday.
