Earlier this month, Pepperidge Farm announced it would debut Gluten-Free Goldfish <\/a>beginning this November. The internet reaction was swift\u2014\u201cthe happiest day of my life\u201d was a phrase repeated over and over again.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s true, people were ecstatic over the brand\u2019s latest announcement, which will finally give gluten-free fans access to the beloved snack crackers. The new version will be available nationwide in 5-ounce boxes for $4.99 in November, but as a longtime Goldfish devotee<\/a>, I just couldn\u2019t wait that long.<\/p>\n

Luckily, I snagged a sample of the new Goldfish before it hit shelves and quickly filled a bowl to snack on. Right away, I noticed some differences from the classic version.<\/p>\n

For starters, these Gluten-Free Goldfish more closely resemble their namesake, with a bolder, more orange color. They also appeared smoother than the OG fish, without the visible salt crystals you often find on the outside of the crackers.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not going to lie\u2014there are noticeable differences in the taste and texture, too. The gluten-free fish have a snappier crunch and don\u2019t crumble against your teeth quite like the original crackers.<\/p>\n

Like Romero, I just can\u2019t quit my OG Goldfish\u2014but I wouldn\u2019t turn my nose up at the new option either. I\u2019d especially love to try this sturdier version in a bowl of soup.<\/p>\n

You can definitely tell the difference between the two, but Gluten-Free Goldfish are a worthy alternative for anyone who eats gluten-free.
