<\/p>\nResidents had the chance to explore dozens of local activities and organizations during the City of Estevan’s citywide registration event.<\/p>\n
About 28 tables were set up during the event, featuring groups and programs for children, adults, and families.<\/p>\n
Jacquelyn Massey-Rounds, Marketing & Communications Manager with the City of Estevan, says the event had a strong turnout. “It was a really good turnout. We were excited to have new tables out, new participants, and to see new faces,” Massey-Rounds said.<\/p>\n
New participants join event<\/p>\n
The Estevan Fire and Rescue Service and Estevan Police Service were among the groups taking part in the event.<\/p>\n
Massey-Rounds says both organizations are making an effort to have more opportunities to connect with residents. “They were really excited to be able to have both fire and rescue, and EPS are really going out of their way to try to come out to more engagement, have more public engagement events,” she said.<\/p>\n
Southeast College also took part, bringing technology for residents to see, including a remote control vehicle. “In the past we have had their very cute robot, but of course tonight they brought a new friend with them,” Massey-Rounds said.<\/p>\n
She hopes the display encourages residents to learn more about the college’s programming. “Hopefully that inspires some people to check out their technology-based programming at their Centre for Innovation,” she said.<\/p>\n

Activities aren’t just for kids<\/p>\n
Massey-Rounds says citywide registration has changed in recent years, with more opportunities being offered for adults. “We are very happy to welcome groups that are not just about youth programming for the fall and winter, but also activities for adults,” she said.<\/p>\n
She says the City wants adults to feel there are opportunities for them to get involved and meet people with similar interests. “We certainly don’t want anybody to feel like they don’t know where they can go for programming if they don’t want to be at home,” Massey-Rounds said. “If they want to find other people that have similar interests, we want them to be able to come out to citywide and be like, yeah, you know, chess is my thing. I’ll maybe sign up for that, or pottery or art.”<\/p>\n
Fall programming ahead<\/p>\n
The City is also preparing for more seasonal programming, with a new aquatic schedule expected for September.<\/p>\n
Massey-Rounds says public ice programming will return during the first week of October. “We’re very excited for hockey season and ice season to return and all of the fun programming through the season,” she said.<\/p>\n
Residents are encouraged to watch for additional fall and winter programming opportunities from the City of Estevan.<\/p>\n
