{"id":874275,"date":"2026-08-28T07:26:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T07:26:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/874275\/"},"modified":"2026-08-28T07:26:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-28T07:26:09","slug":"as-usual-weather-iffy-as-nascar-heads-to-daytona","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/874275\/","title":{"rendered":"As usual, weather iffy as NASCAR heads to Daytona"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It wouldn&#8217;t be a race weekend at Daytona International Speedway without everyone in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yardbarker.com\/nascar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NASCAR\u00a0<\/a>industry briefly turning into a meteorologist.<\/p>\n<p>Summer in Florida always brings afternoon thunderstorms, and the same can be said this weekend, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/en\/us\/daytona-beach\/32114\/10-day-weather-forecast\/328173\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">according to AccuWeather.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Qualifying for both the NASCAR O&#8217;Reilly Auto Parts Series and the NASCAR Cup Series is scheduled for Friday, as is the O&#8217;Reilly Series race. The Cup race is scheduled for Saturday night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Forecast doesn&#8217;t look great, but that&#8217;s par for the course<\/p>\n<p>Friday&#8217;s forecast calls for an 88 percent chance of precipitation and thunderstorms. If qualifying is rained out, the starting lineups for both races would be set by the NASCAR rulebook.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Saturday&#8217;s forecast is more favorable, especially if Friday&#8217;s race is postponed.
