Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is revealing details<\/a> on an apparent August 14 recall of ibuprofen that\u2019s said to have been distributed exclusively within Massachusetts.<\/p>\n

What you need to know<\/p>\n

It appears the medication may have been formulated for children with a reported dosage of 150 milligrams per 7.5 milliliters (mg per mL)\u2014per the Mayo Clinic<\/a>, dependent on body weight and body temperature. The berry flavor liquid formulation suggests this further.<\/p>\n

Syringes totaling 302 units point to the product being made for healthcare settings. Additionally, the maker of the ibuprofen is named as greater Boston-based Safecor Health, LLC. The company\u2019s website<\/a> states they\u2019re a repackaging and delivery company for single-dosage units of medications, partnering with hospitals and health systems.<\/p>\n

The FDA provides identifying details for recalled ibuprofen as lot number 26281630, and expiration date 1\/27\/2027.<\/p>\n

The announcement indicates that the recall occurred due to \u201cCross Contamination with Other Products.\u201d [sic]<\/p>\n
