\n\tThe South Korea-born, New Zealand-raised BLACKPINK<\/a> star steps out on her own for Fallen Angel, the three-track digital EP that dropped as the clock struck midnight.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s a collection that comes \u201cfrom a very personal place with the truest self-expression,\u201d reads an announcement, posted just last week<\/a> by\u00a0Odd Atelier<\/a>, the singer-actress\u2019 own company and label<\/a>. \u201cA gift from JENNIE, with love.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe gift, well, it\u2019s unwrapped and available for streaming below. The title from Fallen Angel arrives with an official music video, a fairytale that could be inspired by the work of Tim Burton. It\u2019s a balancing act of light and dark, of bonfires and flowers. Of butterflies and bad dreams. Poetry and pain. JENNIE is the connecting tissue. \u201cThorns may be the sharpest, fiercest thing on this earth,\u201d we learn in the spoken word outro. \u201cAnd yet, they bloom into the world\u2019s most beautiful roses.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe clip culminates in a fiery finale. But fear not, no one was set ablaze. A disclaimer accompanying the music video assures that all fire depicted in it was created using VFX (CG), and that \u201call scenes involving minors were filmed in a safe environment under appropriate supervision.\u201d Good to know.<\/p>\n

\n\tAt the top, as a child is boxed in on a stage of warped little houses, we learn that \u201chuman greed has made them grow so heavy.\u201d As the camera pulls back, we see a surreal foggy landscape, backed by domineering skyscrapers. Those bent dwellings have eyes. \u201cBut little one, close your eyes like I do,\u201d that narrator explains, in Korean. \u201cWe can still fly. Free as can be.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tFallen Angel collects the title track, plus \u201cHeaven,\u201d which the K-pop icon debuted last month when she headlined the final night of Open\u2019er Festival in Gdynia, Poland; and \u201cLess Than a Lover.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a song I wrote thinking about summer,\u201d she told the audience before performing<\/a> \u201cLess Than A Lover.\u201d \u201cIt feels really special to share new music with this many people.\u201d She added: \u201cI really can\u2019t wait to share this new music with you soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
