A new political survey conducted by La Presse shows that the governing Coalition Avenir Qu\u00e9bec,<\/a> which had been languishing in the polls, has surged in popularity and is in a virtual tie with the Parti-Quebecois.<\/p>\n

Ottawa Bureau Chief with La Presse, Jo\u00ebl-Denis Bellavance, says that\u2019s a shocking result just one day into the Quebec provincial election.<\/p>\n

He says the numbers show the CAQ \u201crising from the dead.\u201d<\/p>\n

Poll numbers released by La Presse this morning (La Presse)<\/p>\n

The poll shows the Parti-Quebecois and the CAQ in a virtual tie at 28 per cent and 27 per cent respectively with the Quebec Liberal Party at 20 per cent. \u201cFor the CAQ, that\u2019s a jump of 7 points in two weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bellavance says the ongoing trade war<\/a> with the United States appears to be influencing voter intentions.<\/p>\n

Political scientist Lori Turnbull says she\u2019s not surprised by the latest polling results out of Quebec.<\/p>\n
