The Toronto Blue Jays<\/a> have designated right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson<\/a> for assignment after he allowed six earned runs in one inning Thursday night against the Kansas City Royals<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Righty CJ Van Eyk<\/a> was brought up by the Jays Friday in a corresponding move. He will be active for the series-opener against the Seattle Mariners<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old Woods Richardson entered Thursday\u2019s game in the sixth inning with the Jays trailing 4-0. He proceeded to allow five hits and two walks, including a two-run home run Vinnie Pasquantino<\/a> that made the score 10-0.<\/p>\n

The Blue Jays would go on to lose 13-2 to fall three and a half games back of the final American League wild-card spot.<\/p>\n

Woods Richardson has appeared in eight games for the Jays since they acquired him from the Minnesota Twins<\/a> in early June. He has a 3.93 ERA in his time with Toronto with 14 strikeouts and 14 hits allowed in 18.1 innings.<\/p>\n

Woods Richardson\u2019s season ERA stands at 6.68 after he struggled in 20 appearances with the Twins.<\/p>\n

Van Eyk, 27, has a 4.76 ERA in three appearances this season with the Jays. He owns a 3.79 mark in 21 outings so far this season with Triple-A Buffalo.<\/p>\n
