\n\tAfter nearly a decade, Ridley Scott<\/a> is returning to the Alien<\/a> franchise with a contemporary take.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Academy Award honoree recently revealed that he\u2019s \u201crewriting the next Alien film,\u201d which will serve as a long-awaited conclusion to his prequel trilogy that also includes Prometheus<\/a> (2012) and Alien: Covenant<\/a> (2017), with Michael Fassbender<\/a>\u2018s Walter One returning.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cActually, I suddenly went back and got involved,\u201d he told French outlet AlloCin\u00e9<\/a>. \u201cThe one that just came out [2024\u2019s Alien: Romulus] was OK. I think it needs some help. So, I\u2019ve gone back in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tScott continued, \u201cI\u2019ve already got a footprint for the next Alien. We did Prometheus, and then Alien: Covenant. So, I\u2019m picking up where we left off in Covenant with Micheal Fassbender, who now thinks he\u2019s Ozymandius.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWith the sequel bringing back Fassbender\u2019s futuristic AI<\/a> droid, Scott sees an opportunity to explore the repercussions of artificial intelligence in our current world.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI like the fact that AI has gone off the rails,\u201d said Scott of where the character is at the end of Covenant. \u201cIf we go AI, the moment we discover it\u2019s off the rails is too late. It could switch every digital thing off in the world like that. You\u2019d have fucking chaos. It\u2019s that kind of stuff that\u2019s scary.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tScott\u2019s return to the franchise\u2014which he launched with 1979\u2019s Alien\u2014comes after FX renewed Noah Hawley\u2019s series offshoot<\/a> Alien: Earth for a second season.<\/p>\n
