Peel police have charged a Mississauga man in connection with a series of organized retail thefts across Halton, Hamilton and Niagara regions.<\/p>\n
Officers launched an investigation in April that targeted a man believed to be responsible for multiple thefts of clothing and accessories from major retailers across the Greater Toronto Area and other parts of Ontario.<\/p>\n
Investigators linked the man to at least 38 theft-related incidents across Halton, Hamilton, Niagara, Durham, Peel and York regions.<\/p>\n
In June, 49-year-old Anthony Orlando Monteith of Mississauga was arrested and charged with the following offences:<\/p>\n
Theft Under $5,000 (24 counts)
\nPossession of Property Obtained by Crime (14 counts)<\/p>\n
After his arrest, search warrants were carried out at residences in Welland and Mississauga where authorities recovered more than $35,000 worth of stolen clothing, cosmetics and personal accessories.<\/p>\n
The investigation into offences where Monteith may be a suspect continues. Officers say they anticipate further charges.<\/p>\n
