The Golden State Warriors<\/a>\u2019 first 12 players on the roster this summer were familiar faces with some level of experience in the organization. However, that changed as the Warriors added several pieces to round out the team during free agency.<\/p>\n

Golden State brought in veterans with playoff experience last week, officially signing Georges Niang and Brandon Williams to contracts.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Warriors signed Georges Niang to a partially guaranteed deal and Brandon Williams to a non-guaranteed deal, sources say. Niang is partially guaranteed for $1.84M of his $3.88M salary. Williams can earn $1.4M if he makes the opening night roster and up to $2.63M total,\u201d HoopsHype\u2019s Michael Scotto posted.<\/p>\n

The Warriors still have a two-way contract available after rounding out the rest of the roster. Blue Man Hoops\u2019 Peter O\u2019Keefe believes Golden State could use that spot to sign Cam Whitmore.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe most tempting factor is that Whitmore is still eligible for a two-way contract. Golden State still have an eligible two-way spot, and having him on there rather than the main roster significantly reduces the risk on a player that three teams have now given up on in the last 14 months,\u201d O\u2019Keefe wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n

This would be a good opportunity for Whitmore, who is running out of chances to establish himself in the NBA. The former first-round pick was recently waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers<\/a> after being included in the Peyton Watson deal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Cleveland Cavaliers have waived Cam Whitmore, league sources told hoopshype. Whitmore, the 20th pick of the 2023 NBA Draft, has averaged 10.5 points on 45% from the field and 35% from 3-point range in 17.3 minutes during three NBA seasons with the Rockets<\/a> and Wizards<\/a>,\u201d Scotto wrote.<\/a><\/p>\n

Whitmore is a talented scorer who entered the NBA with plenty of upside coming out of college. However, there was a reason teams passed on him during the 2023 NBA Draft, and some of those concerns have followed him throughout his early career.<\/p>\n

Whitmore was on a $15 million rookie contract before being waived.<\/a> A two-way deal with Golden State could benefit both sides, as it would be a relatively low-risk move for the Warriors while giving Whitmore another opportunity to prove he belongs in the NBA.<\/p>\n
