Gay elephants have been observed \u2018engaging in same-sex bonding\u2019 and \u2018mounting\u2019 by wildlife officers in Colombo, Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n
Engaging in same-sex bonding is undoubtedly a highlight of the human experience \u2013 but as it turns out, the activity is not limited to those of us with opposable thumbs..<\/p>\n
Spreading the LGBTQ+ agenda across the animal kingdom are gay whales<\/a>, gay penguins<\/a>, gay sheep<\/a>, gay flamingos<\/a> and now, please welcome to the stage: gay elephants!<\/p>\n As reported by English language Sri Lankan publication the Daily Mirror<\/a>, wildlife officers say that \u201chomosexual behaviour is observed among wild elephants, with male elephants frequently engaging in same-sex bonding and mounting.\u201d<\/p>\n The newspaper, which is based in the country\u2019s capital city of Colombo, reports that this behaviour was seen as a \u201cnatural part of elephant social behaviour\u201d in the Minneriya and Kaudulla National Parks of Sri Lanka<\/a> \u2013 \u201cparticularly during months when food and water are available\u201d.<\/p>\n The report also notes that \u201cmale elephants with physical strength often win over females for mating, leaving out weak bulls who opt for homosexual behaviour\u201d \u2013 which we can\u2019t imagine the gay elephants are really that fussed about.<\/p>\n A recent post to X<\/a> by Tamil Nadu Geography (@TNGeography) also shows a clip of two male elephants \u201cshowing affection\u201d near the city of Gudalur in the southern region of India.<\/p>\n Two male elephants are showing affection near Gudalur in the Nilgiris dt of Tamil Nadu. \ud83d\udc18.
