Olivia Miles getting 0 assists while her team loses and she\u2019s shooting more than anyone else on her team bcuz she\u2019s chasing a rookie scoring record,\u201d the X post pointed out.<\/p>\n<p>Whitlock suggested the WNBA\u2019s recent obsession with statistics was interfering with the integrity of the sport. <\/p>\n<p>Since fans and analysts seemed to care more about points scored and records broken, players were also more interested in individual achievements, even if it came at the expense of the team losing.<\/p>\n<p>This is not the first time Whitlock has criticized the WNBA\u2019s priorities. In his podcast, Whitlock explained exactly why the league gave so much importance to stats.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWhitlock continues to blast the WNBA\u2019s money making scheme<\/p>\n<p>Recently, Whitlock discussed why the WNBA is so obsessed on his podcast, Fearless with Jason Whitlock. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=KmzunsteolI\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">On the August 31 episode of the Fearless podcast<\/a>, he pointed out that the focus on stats was a business decision by the league.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf I want to make the most money, I should come on and pretend like only points and assists are the only stats that matter,\u201d Whitlock said. \u201cAnd in 1982, that was true. Points, assists, and rebounds. And but in this era of analytics and these advanced stats, everybody knows that\u2019s not true. There\u2019s a deeper way to look at these\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The analyst explained that this stat-based system had given rise to the concept of \u2018points created\u2019, which completely disregarded the other aspects of a player\u2019s performance and skill that coaches take into account.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>But what it did account for was exposure on social media, via podcasters and content creators.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSocial media in this era actually financially rewards,\u201d Whitlock added. \u201cIt\u2019s it\u2019s just money making.
