{"id":880331,"date":"2026-09-02T05:18:24","date_gmt":"2026-09-02T05:18:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/880331\/"},"modified":"2026-09-02T05:18:24","modified_gmt":"2026-09-02T05:18:24","slug":"controversial-edmonton-home-on-the-market-again-for-3-25m-daily-hive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/880331\/","title":{"rendered":"Controversial Edmonton home on the market again for $3.25M | Daily Hive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A multimillion-dollar home tucked away in Edmonton\u2019s Mill Creek Ravine is once again on the market, this time with a significant price drop after years of making headlines for everything from its construction to its famous former tenant.<\/p>\n<p>The home at 9213 97th St. is listed for $3.25 million, a far cry from its $4.6-million auction listing in 2020 and <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/edmonton\/oilers-tyson-barrie-house-listed\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">$4.7-million asking price<\/a> in 2023, <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/edmonton\/edmonton-oilers-house-for-sale-tyson-barrie\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reduced to $3.8 million in January 2026<\/a>. At one point, it was even <a href=\"https:\/\/dailyhive.com\/edmonton\/home-former-oiler-rentfaster\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">available to rent<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The house is undeniably gorgeous, and former Oilers defenceman Tyson Barrie rented it during his time in Edmonton, according to a previous realtor who spoke with Daily Hive in 2023.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/E4506327_50.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"\" class=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1200\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Re\/Max Professionals<\/p>\n<p>But the home\u2019s construction was also polarizing. In 2018, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/edmonton\/mill-creek-city-edmonton-1.4532538\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">dozens of people<\/a> showed up to a subdivision and development appeal board hearing to voice their opposition to the home being built in the ravine.<\/p>\n<p>Back then, the home\u2019s owner said living there with his family would make them \u201cguardians of the ravine.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve got five children.
