A Mississauga man faces charges following an investigation by police into the alleged selling of cocaine near Niagara Falls.<\/p>\n
Two search warrants executed on Tuesday in Welland and Thorold led to the recovery by police of more than $100,000 in suspected cocaine and nearly $50,000 in cash.<\/p>\n
The raids, carried out by street crime unit officers with Niagara Regional Police, also resulted in the arrests of a Mississauga man and a woman from Welland, police said.<\/p>\n
The investigation began in July when Niagara detectives started looking into the suspected sale of cocaine by a man in St. Catharines, located just outside Niagara Falls.<\/p>\n
The execution of the pair of search warrants on Tuesday resulted in the recovery by police of:<\/p>\n
Nearly 1,084 grams of suspected cocaine, with an approximate street value of $100,000.
\n$48,105 in Canadian currency and a relatively small amount of U.S. cash.<\/p>\n
Ismail Ahmed, 30, of Mississauga, is charged with:<\/p>\n
Possess Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine) \u2014 two counts.
\nPossession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
\nPersonation to obtain property interest (fraud).<\/p>\n
The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing Wednesday in St. Catharines court.<\/p>\n
Chantal Fournier, 35, of Welland, is charged with possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000. She was released with a future court date that\u2019s yet to be set, police said.<\/p>\n
The investigation continues.<\/p>\n
