The city is offering a free tree to Brampton households to help protect the environment and meet a goal of planting one million new trees over the next decade.<\/p>\n
The city made a pledge back in 2020 to hit a target of planting a million new trees under Brampton\u2019s 2040 Vision plan, and has made progress with Brampton residents helping plant more than 300,000 new trees in the last five years, the city says.<\/p>\n
But there\u2019s still a long way to go if the city wants to meet its one million tree goal by 2040, and the city is giving away free trees during September to make Brampton greener and healthier.<\/p>\n
Residents can register with the city for a free tree to plant on their property. Trees are limited to one per household and are only available while quantities last, and are to be planted on private residential property only.<\/p>\n
Once the tree is planted,\u00a0 you can mark it through the city\u2019s online Tree Tracker and view your contribution to the one million tree goal on an interactive map.<\/p>\n
Pick-up dates are either Sept. 12 or Sept. 16 at 170 Clark Blvd. in Brampton.<\/p>\n
September is Tree Month, and the city is holding events where residents can take part in activities and learn more about the trees that help Brampton green.<\/p>\n
Tour the Trees Bike Tour<\/p>\n
What: Join Brampton\u2019s Parks and Forestry team and Bike Brampton for a free bike ride to learn about significant trees in Brampton, followed by a free barbecue. Registration is required.<\/p>\n

Self-Guided Tree Walks<\/p>\n
What: Discover Brampton\u2019s newest self-guided tree walk at Dorchester Park, where an interactive map and QR codes throughout the park provide information about the variety of trees found in the area and their role in the urban forest. At Conservation Drive Park, follow the interactive map through one of Brampton\u2019s natural areas to learn how to identify different tree species, understand their importance to local wildlife and explore the unique features of Brampton\u2019s natural landscape.<\/p>\n
