They were built when the NHL had six teams. Goalies wouldn\u2019t wear a mask. The Leafs would win the cup,\u201d a smiling Carney said, garnering laughs from those who were in attendance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">\u201cIt\u2019s a long time ago.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The prime minister, who cheers for the Edmonton Oilers, added that \u201cthings are changing, even for Leafs\u201d as he unveiled his government\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/northern-ontario\/article\/ottawa-spending-47b-on-new-made-in-canada-via-rail-passenger-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.ctvnews.ca\/northern-ontario\/article\/ottawa-spending-47b-on-new-made-in-canada-via-rail-passenger-cars\/\">$4.7 billion plan to build new Via Rail passenger cars.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The Maple Leafs are entering this season holding the longest active championship drought in the NHL.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The last time the Maple Leafs won the Stanley Cup was in 1967.
