Christine Taylor revealed that she was asked to lose 10 pounds before playing Marcia Brady in \u201cThe Brady Bunch Movie.\u201d<\/p>\n
Taylor discussed auditioning for her role in the 1995 comedy on Wednesday\u2019s episode of the \u201cOffice Ladies\u201d podcast<\/a>, hosted by \u201cThe Office\u201d stars Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey.<\/p>\n The \u201cHey Dude\u201d actress, 55, told Fischer and Kinsey that she landed the opportunity to read for Marcia after playing the character in a live stage version of the original \u201970s series, \u201cThe Real Live Brady Bunch.\u201d<\/p>\n Christine Taylor admitted that she was asked to lose 10 pounds before playing Marcia Brady in 1995\u2019s \u201cThe Brady Bunch Movie.\u201d \u00a9Paramount\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n Taylor (seen in a shot from the movie) talked about the request in a recent episode of the \u201cOffice Ladies\u201d podcast. \u00a9Paramount\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n She related that she received an \u201cout of the blue\u201d message on her answering machine from series creator Sherwood Schwartz, who cold-called her to say he wanted to meet with her about the then-upcoming film, which he was producing.<\/p>\n \u201cI went to Sherwood Schwartz\u2019s house and got to talk to him about \u2018The Brady Bunch,’\u201d the \u201cZoolander\u201d actress \u2014 a self-professed huge fan of the classic TV series \u2014 said. \u201cIt was a pinch-me moment \u2026 I cannot believe to this day that I didn\u2019t keep my little tape from the answering machine.\u201d<\/p>\n Taylor said she felt she had the role in the bag after her first audition, telling Fischer and Kinsey that she knew \u201cnobody could do it better than [her].\u201d<\/p>\n However, when filming began, Taylor said she faced what she described as a \u201cso \u201990s\u201d request during a \u201cvery different time in the industry\u201d to lose weight for the role.<\/p>\n Taylor (seen above with the cast for \u201cA Very Brady Sequel\u201d in 1996) said the original series\u2019 creator Sherwood Schwartz called her to discuss the role. \u00a9Paramount\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n She nailed the audition, but was asked to lose weight. \u201cI was not a super heavy person,\u201d she recalled, saying that she felt \u201cembarrassed\u201d by the request. \u00a9Paramount\/Courtesy Everett Collection<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\t\tWant more celebrity and pop culture news?\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStart your day with Page Six Daily.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n \u201cThe one thing that I got \u2014 and I was not a super heavy person \u2014 but they asked me to lose 10 pounds,\u201d she revealed.<\/p>\n Taylor said she agreed at the time to lose the weight, but admitted, \u201cOf course, I was embarrassed when that ask came my way.\u201d<\/p>\n Taylor noted that the request \u201cwould never happen today,\u201d but said she wasn\u2019t the only actress being asked to lose weight for a role during that period of time.<\/p>\n The \u201cWedding Singer\u201d star joked that fans who watch the movie \u201cvery closely\u201d can spot her gaining the 10 pounds back, which she said happened after she treated herself to nonfat frozen yogurt once filming wrapped.<\/p>\n Taylor, 55, jokes that fans can see her re-gaining and re-losing the 10 pounds throughout the film. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll come into a scene looking a little rounder, and then I exit the scene looking a little thinner, just because of how they had to reshoot things,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Taylor has been married to Ben Stiller since May 2000, when the two tied the knot after meeting on the set of \u201cHeat Vision and Jack.\u201d<\/p>\n After 17 years of marriage, the couple separated in 2017<\/a> but ultimately reconciled in February 2022<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cWe were separated and got back together, and we\u2019re happy about that,\u201d Stiller, 60, said at the time. \u201cIt\u2019s been really wonderful for all of us.
