{"id":883561,"date":"2026-09-04T22:40:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T22:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/883561\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T22:40:09","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T22:40:09","slug":"buium-signs-8-year-75-04-million-contract-with-canucks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/ca\/883561\/","title":{"rendered":"Buium signs 8-year, $75.04 million contract with Canucks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 20-year-old\u00a0defenseman was acquired by the Canucks with forwards <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/marco-rossi-8482079\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Marco Rossi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/liam-ohgren-8483499\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Liam Ohgren<\/a>\u00a0and a first-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft in the trade that sent defenseman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhl.com\/player\/quinn-hughes-8480800\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Quinn Hughes<\/a>\u00a0to the Minnesota Wild on Dec. 12, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>He is entering the final season of a three-year, entry-level contract he signed with the Wild on April 13, 2025 and could have become a restricted free agent after the 2026-27 season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cZeev has settled in nicely with our organization since his trade to Vancouver last season, and we are extremely happy to see him make this long-term commitment to the Canucks,\u201d Vancouver general manager Ryan Johnson said. \u201cHe is a key member of our young core and a player we will build around moving forward. Zeev has a lot of upside, and we feel with his abilities he will flourish in the system and environment we are creating inside our locker room. We look forward to working together and creating a strong partnership and foundation for our future.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Buium had 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 45 games for the Canucks last season. A first-round selection (No. 12) by the Wild in the 2024 NHL Draft, Buium has 26 points (six goals, 20 assists) in 76 games for the Wild and Canucks.
