NASCAR Cup Series driver Daniel Su\u00e1rez spent Thursday, September 3, exploring Las Vegas and connecting with the local community during a full day of school visits, media appearances, cultural experiences, and fan engagement ahead of his return to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the South Point 400 race weekend, October 2- 4.\u00a0<\/p>\n
A native of Monterrey, Mexico, Su\u00e1rez became the first Mexican-born driver to win a NASCAR Cup Series race. His visit to Las Vegas provided an opportunity to share his story while meeting with local students, fans, and community members.<\/p>\n
Su\u00e1rez began his day at Eldorado High School, where he met with students participating in the school\u2019s Automotive Technology and Mariachi programs. He shared stories from his motorsports journey, participated in Q&A sessions, and posed for photos with students. During his time with the Mariachi class, the students surprised Su\u00e1rez with a performance of a piece they had been working on, creating a special and memorable experience for both Su\u00e1rez and the students.<\/p>\n
From there, Su\u00e1rez visited The Las Vegas Bakery, where he stepped into the kitchen to help create some of the bakery\u2019s signature viral Mexican desserts. Founded by Ana Hernandez, The Las Vegas Bakery has built its identity around creativity, culture, and community, becoming known for putting a modern, playful spin on traditional Mexican baked goods. The bakery is best known for its Original Stuffed Conchas, which have gained attention for their colorful presentation, unique flavors and decadent fillings.<\/p>\n
During his visit, Su\u00e1rez got a behind-the-scenes look at the bakery\u2019s kitchen and learned more about the process behind some of its most popular treats. He joined Ana in preparing the desserts, working alongside the bakery team and getting hands-on with the creative process. The visit gave Su\u00e1rez a firsthand look at the passion and craftsmanship behind the bakery\u2019s goods while providing an opportunity to connect with a local Las Vegas business and the community it serves.<\/p>\n
Su\u00e1rez continued his day with a lunch at Bonito Michoacan before making television appearances at Univision Las Vegas and Telemundo Las Vegas. During the interviews, Su\u00e1rez discussed his NASCAR career, his time in Las Vegas and his return to the 1.5-mile Las Vegas Motor Speedway oval.<\/p>\n
The afternoon continued at Colors of Mexico inside Fashion Show Mall, where Su\u00e1rez explored an immersive celebration of Mexican art, culture and tradition. Guided by Daniel Delgado, Su\u00e1rez experienced the attraction\u2019s colorful displays and interactive elements highlighting Mexico\u2019s folklore, history and visual heritage. The visit was particularly meaningful for Su\u00e1rez, allowing him to connect with elements of his Mexican background while learning more about the stories and traditions featured throughout the attraction.<\/p>\n
Su\u00e1rez then headed to La Bonita Supermarkets, where he toured the store, met with employees, tried his hand behind the meat counter and at the tortilla-making station, and prepared some aguas frescas. He continued with a special meet-and-greet with local fans, who had the opportunity to take photos, get autographs, and talk with the NASCAR Cup Series driver about his career and upcoming return to Las Vegas Motor Speedway. The stop also gave Su\u00e1rez another chance to interact with fans outside the racetrack and experience another side of the Las Vegas Valley.<\/p>\n
\u201cGetting out into the community and experiencing different parts of Las Vegas is always a lot of fun,\u201d Su\u00e1rez said. \u201cI really enjoyed meeting the students, spending time with local businesses and getting to try some new things throughout the day. This city has a lot of great people, great food and experiences, and I\u2019m looking forward to coming back to race.\u201d<\/p>\n
Su\u00e1rez\u2019s visit came one month ahead of the South Point 400 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday, October 4. The NASCAR Cup Series will return as part of the 2026 Fall NASCAR Chase Weekend, Oct. 2\u20134.<\/p>\n
The weekend will feature three days of racing and entertainment, beginning Friday, October 2, with the Kyle Busch Classic presented by Star Nursery at The Bullring. Saturday will feature the Focused Health 302 NASCAR O\u2019Reilly Auto Parts Series Chase Race before the NASCAR Cup Series takes center stage for the South Point 400 on Sunday.<\/p>\n
