A person is fighting for their life in hospital following a stabbing in Mississauga that led to a large police presence and a search for a suspect.<\/p>\n
Peel Regional Police said officers responded to the area of Main Street and Dundas Street East at approximately 5:39 p.m. following reports of a stabbing.<\/p>\n
Police said one person was found suffering from critical injuries and was transported to a trauma centre.<\/p>\n
One suspect was taken into custody following the incident, while officers searched the surrounding area for a second suspect.<\/p>\n
In an update, police said the stabbing was believed to be an isolated incident and there was no ongoing threat to public safety.<\/p>\n
The outstanding suspect is described by police as a Hispanic woman in her mid-30s, approximately five-foot-four, with blonde and brown hair.<\/p>\n
The victim remained in critical condition at a trauma centre as of the latest police update.<\/p>\n
Officers remained in the Main Street and Dundas Street East area as the investigation continued.<\/p>\n
Police had earlier asked members of the public to avoid the area due to the large police presence.<\/p>\n
