Brendan Fraser has shared an exciting update for The Mummy 4, confirming that filming has begun on the anticipated sequel. <\/p>\n

Although we knew filming was due to begin imminently, Fraser confirmed over the weekend that he would return to work as Rick O\u2019Connell on Monday morning, meaning production officially commenced today.<\/p>\n

Speaking during France’s Deauville American Film Festival, the actor told Canal+<\/a>: “I have to be at work on Monday morning.”<\/p>\n

Appearing slightly nervous about reprising his role as an action hero, Fraser said of the stunts: “I guess I’ll just be careful and completely comfortable telling the stunt team, ‘You’re going to be great in this shot, go get it’.”<\/p>\n

He continued: “But I’m not concerned because of the level of professionalism that I know that I’m working alongside. And just for the outpouring of enthusiasm around the project. It’s like seeing an old friend again.”<\/p>\n

Announced last year<\/a>, the sequel sees Rachel Weisz return as Evelyn O’Connell alongside Kevin J O’Connor as Beni Gabor, Oded Fehr as Ardeth Bay, and John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan, with Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directing. <\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy<\/a> at the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Hannah gave his verdict on the film, saying: “I read the script, and the script is terrific.”<\/p>\n

He added: “Brendan is an incredibly brilliant, creative leading actor with an Oscar, Rachel [is] the same. We’re all still friends, I talk to Oded, I talk to Arnold [Vosloo] regularly, Patricia [Vel\u00e1squez] as well. Rachel’s the only one I haven’t seen for a while.”<\/p>\n

On why he was hesitant to return, he said: “My only reservations were about, is it a kind of cynical rehash just to get the audience back in the cinema. But in fact, the script is so good and the directors have got such energy. They’ll bring something new and fresh to it.”<\/p>\n

“They’re not going to settle for some rehashed [thing]. The script is always the starting point and it’s bloody funny, it’s bloody good, so I’m really looking forward to it,” he added. <\/p>\n

The Mummy 4 is set for release 15 October 2027.<\/p>\n
