Former world No. 20 Daria Saville turned to her nearly 1 million TikTok followers to help her decide on her US Open<\/a> singles qualifier outfit. The 31-year-old was without a clothing sponsor heading into the final Grand Slam of 2025.<\/p>\n

Sponsorship is one of the most important and lucrative aspects of being a professional tennis player. Emma Raducanu and Novak Djokovic have multi-million-dollar deals with various brands<\/a> in addition to their yearly prize money on their respective WTA and ATP Tours. Terence Atmane would have been another example, alongside Saville, for a lack of sponsors.<\/p>\n

Still, the cryptic Frenchman – who has an IQ of 158 –<\/a> enjoyed a run to the Cincinnati Masters semis, where he faced world No. 1 Jannik Sinner<\/a>, but pulled out of US Open qualifying. “So, I don’t have a clothing sponsor, and if my match outfit looks ugly tomorrow, it’s on me. Because I chose it,” Saville told her 973,000 followers.<\/p>\n

“Normally, if you’re a sponsored athlete, you get your US Open collection, and even if you don’t like it, you have to wear it. So please, help me with my outfit choices!”<\/p>\n

However, Saville’s run at the 2025 US Open was short-lived. The Australian lost her qualifying match in straight sets to German Jule Niemeier. At the peak of her singles career, Saville reached a world ranking of 20th, but she is now outside the top 130 players globally.<\/p>\n

Saville already has her eye on another one of life’s challenges: motherhood. Like former US Open champion Sloane Stephens, Saville has revealed that she has been freezing her eggs as she hopes to one day become a mother.<\/p>\n

Saville had also been diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), which is a hormonal issue that can reduce a woman’s fertility. “We’re at that age, both 30 years old and married, and we kind of always said that if we weren’t professional athletes, we would probably try and have kids by now,” she told The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“But I’m still playing, and I still want to compete, and for that reason, we thought: ‘OK, well, let’s do the egg freezing’\u2026 I was able to do that while I was injured because you need a bit of time.<\/p>\n

“It feels more like, ‘OK, I’ve ticked the box,’ and it makes me feel more comfortable continuing my tennis career.<\/p>\n

“But so far, I’ve done only one cycle. I might do another cycle.
