An incredible match is coming up in the quarter-finals of the men’s singles event at the US Open. Fans have some interesting ideas on who will win between Carlos Alcaraz and Ben Shelton.

Carlos Alcaraz’s return to the court after five months is going excellently so far. The 7-time Grand Slam winner has dropped just one set on his way to the US Open quarter-finals.

Alcaraz’s next opponent is Ben Shelton, who is experiencing something of a dream run himself. The American star dispatched Stefanos Tsitsipas with ease in the fourth round to book his spot.

Their match is one of the most highly anticipated clashes of the tournament so far. Tennis fans online have their own opinions on who will get the job done.

In their three previous meetings, Shelton has failed to beat Alcaraz even once. He has only ever managed to get one set against the Spaniard at the highest level.

Shelton is in fine form too, looking to make his first US Open semi-final since 2023. However, fans on X seem to think that Alcaraz will get the job done.

Shelton looks properly locked in. Serve is firing, forehand is doing damage, movement looks sharp. Feels like one of those matches where everything could finally click for him. Big stage, big opportunity. Big Ben might actually be cooking this time.

“Carlos will outclass him 3-0,” said one fan, agreeing that Alcaraz will win. “Y’all can say what you like, Carlos is ending this in straight sets,” added another fan.

Who wins the US Open quarter-final: Carlos Alcaraz or Ben Shelton?

What do you think the score will be?

“Alcaraz will make it a drama by giving a set away and make it appear that Shelton has a real chance…Then the cat playing with its food act ends abruptly,” a fourth fan predicted.

“Shelton’s on fire, but Alcaraz is still the real deal,” claimed a fifth fan, summing up the general feeling.

Shelton has the chance to really make a statement if he manages to beat Alcaraz. However, the two-time US Open champion is truly a cut above the rest in the field, so it’s hard to see that happening.
